For our customer which is an international research based pharmaceutical company, we are searching for a Medical Manager for the Nordic Region.

 

THE COMPANY

The Company is an international pharmaceutical company based on innovation and committed to health, headquartered in Europe.

 

The therapeutic areas on which The Company focus their research and development resources are related to the treatment of: Asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Rheumatoid arthritis, Multiple sclerosis, gastro intestinal disease, and Dermatology.

 

The Nordic Situation

In the Nordic countries the products of the Company have been sold for more than 10 years under license by other companies. The Company has decided to recover the commercial rights for both the present product portfolio as well as pipeline product candidates to be launched in the years to come. It is expected to launch one or more new products (NCE’s) in years 2010, 11 and 12. This is the background for now establishing a Nordic organization out of Copenhagen. In the first place the Nordic General Manager, the Medical Manager and the Marketing Manager will be the team to initiate the Company business operation in the Nordic region. Later this year Key Account Managers are to follow in the individual Nordic countries.

 

THE POSITION

The Medical Manager will be responsible for medical support for the sales force, marketing and regulatory as well as answering medical/scientific questions, developing training materials for the sales force, arranging/participating in scientific programs and taking an active role in activities guided towards KOL’s, specifically: 

  • Training of medical representatives (and external parties when applicable)
  • Developing materials and action plans for resolution of market access issues
  • Organizing the answering of medical/scientific questions
  • Support in the development of strategic marketing plans
  • Support the local KOL programs with scientific input, presentations and otherwise
  • Engage actively in promotional activities of a medical/scientific nature throughout the region.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate matches most of the following criteria:

 

Education/experience

  • University degree (life sciences, medical)
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Cross border experience in the Nordic countries
  • Experience in either neurology or dermatology is an asset
  • Experience in launching new products is a plus

Management skills

  • Some people management experience and excellent collaborative skills
  • Visionary thinking
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Financial acumen
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in one of the Scandinavian languages and English. Other languages are a plus.

Professional experience

  • Good knowledge of National health authorities network in one or more of the Nordic markets.
  • Good knowledge of National Key Opinion Leaders in one or more therapy areas
  • Experienced and successful within Market Access
  • Strong communicator and experienced ‘train-the-trainer’
  • Broad financial knowledge
  • Good knowledge in MS office package
